I took part in the Wexford half marathon, organised by Eoin Ryan.
Great event with over 800 competitors. Wexfordhalfmarathon.com
I was not in good running shape so had a strategy to do the first half of the race at 155-160 beats per minute heart rate. As you will see from the chart details in the link that plan didn’t really pan out and I was at 170 bmp average for the whole race. Race details recorded from my garmin watch
Finished 84th which I was happy enough with, top 10%. I need to put a little bit more time into training over the summer and I will hope to break the 1.30 mark for the half marathon distance.

We are always interested in Tracking cool stuff. Over the last couple of years we have been lucky enough to track a few different people in races they have undertaken.

We started by tracking a great company based in Scotland, ukdvdr.co.uk to provide them with live tracking during the 2006 Cannonball 8000 event.

Cannonball 8000 is Europes premier non-professional rally event covering 5 countries in 72 hours and ukdvdr entered it to help a great charity, http://www.edinburghsickkids.org/

“UKDVDR may be an internet based company but we are in the real world when it comes to children. We wanted to do something to raise money for a needy Charity for a while now. Our directors were too squeamish to do sponsored parachute jumps. So, after much contemplation we have decided to enter the Cannonball Rally.”

I will try to get some more photos from the UKdvdr guys

Hummer used in 06 cannonball

We also sponsored them in their race in 2007 where they came in overall first place. Even though it’s technically a rally and not a race, everyone aims for high placings so they claimed the title of 2007 overall winners driving a Mercedes CLS320.

At the start of 2008 we tracked Gary Finlay and his team, “The sewing club” in their adventure to Timbuktu in 2007/2008 here are the full set of pictures

Maybe the M50 is not so bad

We are also currently sponsoring one of our clients, Barry Rabbit, he is racing in two disciplines. Firstly he is in the newly formed Irish Saloon car championship for a team. The car he is driving is a Honda Integra Type R, the team who own and run the car are in the car tuning business.

The other car he is driving is his own Formula Ford, a single seater racecar. He is competing in this in the Irish Formula Ford championship along with a number of high profile events in the UK.

For 2008 Barry has raced in 5 races, out of a planned 7, with a fantastic result of 1st place in four of the races and 4th in the other race.

Barry’s season was cut short due to a broken leg so we wish him all the best on his recovery.

Here is a video from inside the car from Barrys first race(and win) of the season…

Here are a picture of the car and a newspaper article about a race he won
